One day I was traveling on a bus along Alexandra Road when I caught sight of a overhead bridge that looked nothing that I've seen before. Leading to the bridge was a series of zig-zagging cat-walks that extends and disappears into the greenery. I thought, that must be one nice pedestrian crossing! Little did I know that it is actually part of a inter-park trail that spans over 9km across the southern parks of Singapore, and hence its name - The Southern Ridges. The bridge that I'm referring to is the Alexandra Arch. Yesterday afternoon, we walked the trail from one end to the other, starting from the Harborfront end.

The bench is soaked with the warmth of the mid-day sun.

View of Telok Blangah residences and the city in the background.

Aggressive framing of residences and offices.

Tall and straight trees.

Henderson waves. The curvy wooden planks doubles as ergonomic back rests.

Henderson waves. The curvy wooden planks also doubles as a playground for extreme sport (No signs saying cannot run on it). I can't resist doing a 飞檐走壁.

Henderson waves is also the highest overhead bridge in Singapore.

Forest walk. This is one cool walkway. We saw many lovely looking trees.

Picture taking ended at the Hortpark because the batteries died. The last one-third of our journey shall remained to be photograph on our next visit. We reached Kent Ridge park just in time to catch the sun set against the backdrop of the Pasir Panjang shipyard From there, we found our way down to South Buona Vista Road and by then we were dead hungry. We found the Teocheow duck stall that we last visited 2 years ago and had our dinner there.
I think Nparks is quite smart to develop this trail because it's actually just connecting three parks (Kent ridge, mount faber and telok blangah hill) with fanciful bridges and by doing so they created an entirely new experience for us. Overall, it's enjoyable because I've never been to those parks in my 24 years of life in Singapore. I've not been to Kent Ridge park even it is just right beside NUS and is a great spot for couples to hang out. Much of the joy came from being able to discover new sights of Singapore, just when I thought that I've ventured thoroughly throughout the whole of Singapore and there's nothing new left to explore.
I will definitely walk this trail again, next time bringing my SLR and hope to capture more interesting shots.
